The optimum signal for analyse onlin fouling situation in a boiler is based on sensor measurement. Where sensor measurement is not possible because of technical reasons, one can get integrated fouling information by thermodynamic calculation.

There are several sensor types that are use for Intelligent Sootblowing systems like:

Heat Flux Sensors
SMART Gauge
Retractable camera

Strain Gages The Strain gage (SG) is fixed to the vertical hanger rods of individual heat exchangers like pendants, superheater panels etc. The installation location of the SG is the penthouse above the boiler roof. The SG supplies a signal about the load change on the hanger rod, which is indicated because of growing slag deposit formation or decreasing because of cleaning of sootblower. The sensitivity of the SG makes it possible even to monitor a load change only of 80 kg.
